«زندگانی بهر صلح است، جنگ و نفرت تا به کی»
Our motivations
“Unaccompanied men tend to be deprioritized when assistance cannot be offered to all” – Oxfam. In Greece, access to services providing basic needs is severely restricted for solo men and spaces dedicated to their demographic are scarce.
The limitations imposed by the system on access to resources and support are risk factors that have led these men to experience severe levels of social exclusion and alienation. They now compose a non-recognized vulnerable group created by the system itself.
Our model
FORGE addresses the gap in support services for solo men, with an approach tailored to their specific gendered needs which opens the path towards contribution by promoting integration, autonomy and stability. We believe the accomplishment of these behavioural elements lead to independence from social aid, and enables these men to enrich their host nation’s society.

Stability
Counteract the trauma of uncertainty by providing straightforward, up-to-date information and direct referral pathways to relevant services, so that individuals can build sustainable foundations from which to progress.

Integration
Fight isolation and social exclusion through a social space where men can create support networks and connect with the local community.

Autonomy
Reverse the effects of stagnation and institutionalisation by providing guidance and the necessary tools to regain control, in turn boosting self-esteem and self-sufficiency.
Our approach
To acknowledge individuality and diversity of backgrounds and circumstances of the men we work with.
To stand against common practices within the current aid delivery system that create dependency and deny individual identity and agency.

We strongly believe in the capability of these men to act on their own behalf.

We expect and encourage them to be active in every aspect of their lives.

We acknowledge our limitations and advocate for the resourcefulness of our participants.

We facilitate collaboration and promote relationship and network building.
