OUR TEAM

We commit to developing initiatives that focus on integration, individuality, and community involvement, and that challenge the negative stereotypes contributing to the well-being and progress for these otherwise promising young men.

jess webster

Co-Founder / Project Coordinator

Born in the UK, Jess studied Psychology in Canada. She arrived in Greece two years ago and worked first as a Distribution Coordinator at the Port of Piraeus refugee camp, and then as Shift Manager and Protection Officer at Oinofyta refugee camp.

Her background and experience paired with her passion for humanitarian aid have made her stand out. Many refugees and volunteers in Greece have grown to trust and depend on her for advice and solutions, as a result of her great dedication and perseverance.

alejandra cábez

Co-Founder / Project Coordinator

A year in the often thankless role of Warehouse Coordinator in Oinofyta camp, in which fairness and objectivity were key, equipped Ale with both the skills and the ethos for her role at FORGE.

Her strong organisational abilities and conscientiousness are invaluable to designing and running initiatives that promote both autonomy and integration. With a background in psychology, she has an educated understanding of the tools necessary to build a stable and productive life.

katherine

Publications

With qualifications in Human Rights and Journalism, Kat is able to analyse social and economic issues and clearly communicate what FORGE is doing to tackle them and her knack for quickly identifying practical solutions is crucial to our program development.

Before coming to Greece, she worked with a FGM charity in Scotland and taught North Korean refugee children in South Korea. In Oinofyta she often went above and beyond, using her passion for teaching and patience to benefit those struggling to learn English.

dani may

Fundraising

Honouring her studies in International Relations and Politics, in 2016-17 Dani worked in refugee camps in both Iraq and Greece for a medical non-profit organisation. To complement her academic achievements, in this position she gained great experience in coordination and community mobilisation.

Since joining FORGE, her extensive research, unceasing contribution to written material, and enthusiasm, in addition to her indelible smile, have made her an irreplaceable member of the team.

ana orta

Board Member

Ana’s electrical engineering background, teaching skills and attentiveness made her ideally suited to manage the computer lab in Oinofyta camp. She implemented computer literacy courses for young men and women, and also worked with residents accessing asylum services.

Her compassion and problem-solving made a frustrating experience easier, and her knowledge of Greek asylum processes is invaluable. Her unwavering enthusiasm and organisation make her an asset to FORGE.

jamie webster

Board Member

A marine engineer by trade, Jamie spent six months coordinating the carpentry workshop in a Greek refugee camp, constructing furniture and building a community garden with the help of the residents, as well as acting as handyman for the duration of his time there.

Now back at the helm (or in the engine room) his experiences working with the single male refugee population make him an asset to decision making and his financial contributions.
